A calm day in the Shire by Skogflickan A calm day in the Shire by Skogflickan
Here is Frodo, enjoying a good read on a lazy afternoon. A birthday present for my brother, who is a big Tolkien fan!

Actually, I am one as well. ;)
The only reason why there isn't more Tolkien-related art from me here is that I drew gallons of those when I was 12-15 years old. So I kind of needed a break from it after that. xD Those old artworks are really funny by the way, I had a very weird style. I should dig them out and show you something some time. :D

This was really fun to paint. I didn't feel so well that day, but this was like relaxation therapy.

Tools: Watercolours and pencils
Music: Out of Gravity, Floating Lights, In Gowan Ring
Tea: Lavender

Honest, lovely and careless! Does justice to Frodo's early days. :)

Love how you put the tea you were drinking! :)

Haha yeah, I just feel like the kind of tea influences my art just as much as the music I listen to and such. :D

I got a problem.. I can not go around and comment on all your pictures (even though I want to). So I try to just comment on the ones that strikes me extra from the others : P This is one of those pieces! Really Great! You are very good at atmosphere. Frodo is the main thing (im bad at artsy talk I know) in the picture, but he still only steals a very small area of the canvas and still the image does not feel empty. Cool cool and cool!

Thank you! :) I totally get what you mean, and that was something I used to be really bad at - giving a picture some kind of balanced focus. It was always either one main element and an uninteresting or emtpy background, or the whole picture was so busy you didn't know where to look at. So I'm glad to hear that it worked this time!

You're great. I never have time to practice anymore... I'm super busy with a project that absolutely does not involve watercolors... :)

 Yeah, me too actually! My project is my master thesis, which takes up most of my time. But spending the little free time I have atm on painting is a really good way to relax for me. :)

I'm glad there are people like you out there who are doing what they love.

My project is a project of love also, but I've kinda given up on physical painting... I do almost all my art and writing on the computer these days... :)

I'm trying. :D
Yeah I see.. it used to be like that for me, since all my studies and work are done at a computer. So after an intensive phase of digital painting I went back to traditional. I really like both, but to me personally, traditional just lets that creative flow happen more easily. :)

I agree. I feel that way about animation. I feel like there is something a little soul-sucking about computers, but they are useful sometimes... when your "maker-space" is in your room, and also avoiding toxic chemicals... says the person trying to work with 3D printers... isn't very fun (I do that out in my garage... that's not fun either as mine is one of those with a large door that opens with a remote control) So anytime the weather isn't basically perfect I can't do any printing... :(

Indeed! I love computers, or I wouldn't have picked such a technical job, and I love playing computer games and stuff. But it's just nice to get away sometimes.

Oh well, that sucks with the toxic chemicals.. but still, so cool that you can do 3D printing in your garage! Wow :)
